The Slow Burn Fellowship
Take World Lisbon, in association with the writer Rufaro Faith Mazarura, is proud to announce the Slow Burn Fellowship.
Writing takes time, stories need room to breathe and the process of getting from the first word to the last line is often a sprawling, feverish but deeply satisfying slow burn. But if you’re an aspiring writer with work, commitments and a range of responsibilities, it can be hard to find the space in your calendar to dedicate uninterrupted time to developing your craft.
Take World brings together a small group of womxn of colour writers for a week of dedicated creative work, great food from our in-house chefs and lots of inspiration in a quiet coastal setting. The aim is to create a space where established and emerging voices alike can recharge, experiment, and push their projects forward with intention.
The Slow Burn Fellowship is dedicated to writers looking for the space and time they need to finish that first draft, polish their manuscript and finally get ready to send the story they love out into the world.
Because writing is a slow burn, but it’s worth the journey it takes to get to the final page.
Please note that travel expenses to and from the retreat are not included.
Take World is for womxn of colour writers and for this scholarship romance womxn of colour writers are strongly encouraged to apply.
